As part of the preparation for the release of Battlefield 1 in October, EA are making all of the expansions for Battlefield 4 available for free. Some of these have been available free at one time or another in the past, but from now until September 20, each of the five expansions will be made available. Those are China Rising, Second Assault, Naval Strike, Dragon’s Teeth, and Final Stand.
They will also be organising special community missions to go with each of the expansion packs, so if the open beta for Battlefield 1 only gave you a bigger appetite for all things Battlefield, now is the time to get back in the proverbial saddle – at least until the virtual saddle is available again.
You can find out more information on the Battlefield site, and learn more about the Road to Battlefield plan. Not mentioned here but made known earlier, one of the new initiatives coming with Battlefield 1 is a unified UI for Battlefield 1, Battlefield 4, and Battlefield Hardline. With that in mind, it makes sense that the expansions are being made available, so that players have a lower barrier to whatever Battlefield experience they’re after.
Battlefield 1 doesn’t release until October 21, meaning there’s a full month between this expansion offer and the game’s release. If that’s what you’re after, best do it this weekend, because September 20 is sooner than you think.
