GX Australia, one of the newest events on the game convention circuit is seeking support to ensure that its return in April of 2017 will be even bigger than their debut this February. A kickstarter campaign to raise $60,000 for the event was launched on Tuesday morning, and in just a short space of time, is now close to 30% funded.
With a shift in time and space, GX Australia will be held at the Sydney Showground next April, the organisers of the event touted as the most inclusive convention in the country are learning from their experiences this year, and taking on board a lot of the feedback they received. That label isn’t just for show either – GX Australia is serious about providing a space for gamers and geeks of all sexualities, ethnicities, genders and interests.
A lineup of special guests have already been announced, with GX Australia’s “Bosses of Honour” including Katherine Cross, Kim Allom, Jordan Raskopoulos, Eve Beauregard, Tim Cain, Lucy O’Brien and Rae Johnston. The Kickstarter page also talks about the potential of other special guests yet to be announced, and of the many panels that will be held at the event next year.
GX Australia Co-Director Joshua Meadows said the response to GX Australia in 2016 was overwhelmingly positive, making a repeat event a necessity. “We listened carefully to the feedback we received in 2016, and can’t wait to share another incredible weekend with the best bunch of queer, diverse and inclusive people we know!”
A longer list of changes and highlights can be found on the GX Australia kickstarter page, as well as an array of backer rewards, including some of the best antipodean games. You can also head over to the GX Australia site for more details.
GX Australia is run by Joshua Meadows and Liam Esler, and will return on April 29-30, 2017.
